Newport Firefighters I.A.F.F. Local 45 Offers Residents Chance to Beat the Heat
The Newport Firefighters I.A.F.F. Local 45 is inviting all Newport residents to enjoy a day at the Veteran’s Memorial Park pool located at 98 Caroline Street in the heart of Newport. The event will be held Tuesday, July 29 and runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission for all Newport residents will be provided by the firefighters, and residents are also invited to enjoy hot dogs, chips and soft drinks.
Firefighters and fire apparatus will be present at the event. Newport Firefighters are working with the Newport Independent Schools to provide bus service to and from the event from eight area locations. Interested residents may contact Newport Independent Schools or Newport Firefighters for schedule.
“The pool is typically not open on Tuesdays, so we wanted to take that opportunity to continue reaching out to this community and invite them to enjoy the pool and share in the community with us,” Newport I.A.F.F. treasurer Mike Volz said. “It’s a great opportunity to beat the heat, have some fun, and meet your firefighters. This is a continuation of our commitment to stay out in the community and let everyone know that we’re here and we care.”
