Fight for AIR CLIMB (formally Climb the Carew Tower)

 A fundraiser for the American Lung Association.  February 28, 2010   Climbers will challenge themselves to complete the 45 flights to reach the top of the Carew Tower, all while raising funds and awareness for lung disease.
 
Last year Fusion Studio sponsored a team raising nearly $2000 and placing 5th among the 52 teams that participated.  Our eleven member team also left a mark on the climb standings.
Our very own spin instructor, John Homer, placed First out of 331 climbers.  His time was 5 minutes and 26 seconds.  Dave Ness, placed 24th at 7 minutes and 25 seconds.  Christine Phelps was the team's highest placed female with a placing of 70th and a time of 8 minutes and 54 seconds.  In all 8 of the 11 team members finished in the top half of the final standings.
 
The team spend several weeks training on the steps from Columbia Parkway to the Immaculata Church in Mount Adams.
 
Martin Sanders, bike mechanic at Reser Bicycle Outfitters, will join the team and has been training with intense purpose to take First place in the VERTICAL Mile.  I
 
This year team captain, Greg Palmisano wants to raise the bar in fundraising. 
Greg's statement to the 2010 team:
 
There is a $30 dollar registration fee to cover your T-shirt, medal, and whatever. Then there is a minimum of $ in pledges that must be raised prior to the event. I put my personal goal of $200 and our Team goal of $5,000. I put myself down as a competitive climber because we are gonna kick butt this year. NO EXCUSES. Last year I had a 9:51. This year I am breaking 8:30.
